Board of Directors Meeting
August 26, 2014
The meeting, held at Alice Tripp’s (1239) was called to order at 8:00 p.m.
Board Members present: Bob Dilger, Jason Goldberg, Matt Roland and Alice Tripp
Guests: Tim Schick, Kurt and Mickey-Alford Lane, and Heidi Wilson
Secretary’s Report: Matt moved the minutes of the meeting of July 23, 2014, be accepted as written. Seconded by Jason. Unanimous
Treasurer’s Report: Year-to-date spending vs. budget was presented.
Social Committee: The Fall party is scheduled for September 20 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. More information will be forthcoming. Also, our newest neighbor has arrived and was welcomed to the neighborhood.
Landscaping: Bob moved, with a second by Jason, that we allow planting by a homeowner behind 1272 with the requirement that Miss Utility come prior to beginning the work and that any holes dug be done carefully to avoid cable, gas and other lines located in the area. It is also required that plantings are not too close to the electrical box in the area. Seconded by Jason and approved.
Old Business:
Curb Painting – Bob presented three bids for repainting of the yellow curbs and black house numbers. Jason moved we accept the bid from Tibbs at a cost of $2,230. Seconded by Matt. Unanimous. Bob will sign the contract and return it to the paving company.
New Business:
Little Free Library – Heidi Wilson presented a proporal for estabishing one in the cluster. The Board appointed a sub-committee chaired by Heidi along with Tim Schick, Kurt Lane and Matt Roland to gather information for a presentation at a later meeting. Bob has the action with RA.
Snow removal contract – Jason moved we accept the proposal from Genesis for snow services for winter 2014-2015 as presented. Seconded by Matt and approved.
1237 fence request-Jason moved we accept the request from the residents of 1237, who have secured approval from Reston Association to add a fence to their rear yard, to slightly alter the original plan to now have part of that fence out on common property. It is a stipulation from Heather Knoll that the owners are to be responsible for the upkeep of that part of the fence and that it will also fall to any subsequent owners to assume this responsibility. Motion was seconded by Matt and approved. Alice has the action to notify the homeowners of approval
By-Laws revision – Alice requested we look at the painting requirement in the by-laws and perhaps consider amending the section to give the Board the authority to act if a homeowner does not adhere to the requiement. Tabled until the September meeting.
Other – Kurt asked the Board to read over and, at the next meeting, consider the rewording of some sections of the Rules and Regulations to better outline uses of public spaces in the cluster for both children and adults. Board agreed to do so.
New Board Member – The Board welcomed Tim Schick, who volunteered to fill the unexpired term of Scott Parkin. This term runs through November of 2016.
